Emmanuel Olisadebe Retires from Football

Former Poland Striker Calls Time on Career

Olisadebe, who helped Poland reach the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals, has announced his retirement from football at the age of 43.

The Nigerian-born forward made the announcement on his official Instagram page on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

"It's with a heavy heart that I announce my retirement from professional football," Olisadebe wrote. "It's been an incredible journey, and I'm so grateful for all the memories and experiences I've had along the way.

Olisadebe began his professional career in Poland with Polonia Warsaw in 1997. He went on to play for a number of clubs in Greece, China, and Cyprus, before returning to Poland to finish his career with PAE Veria in 2016.

At international level, Olisadebe represented Poland 25 times, scoring 11 goals. He was part of the Poland squad that reached the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals, where they were eliminated in the group stage.

Olisadebe's retirement marks the end of an era for Polish football. He was one of the most talented players of his generation, and he will be remembered as one of the country's greatest ever forwards.
