Is Kyle Larson Better Than Max Verstappen?
Kyle Larson Throws Down the Gauntlet
NASCAR and IndyCar star Kyle Larson said recently that he can lay claim to being the top driver in more racing disciplines than Formula 1's reigning "triple crown" champion, Max Verstappen.
Larson's All-Around Dominance
Larson's resume is extremely impressive: fastest qualifier for the Indy 500 three times, a pair of NASCAR Cup Series titles, and dozens of victories in Sprint Cars and Midgets.
Add to that a pair of wins in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and a victory at the 2023 Indianapolis 8-Hour in his lone start in an LMP2 car and it's easy to see why Larson would question if anyone does it better.
Kevin Harvick's Take
Larson's NASCAR Cup Series rival, Kevin Harvick, recently stated without hesitation that Larson is "better all-around" than Verstappen.
Verstappen vs. Larson: A Tale of Two Disciplines
- Verstappen: reigns supreme in open-wheel single-seaters, with 33 career Formula 1 victories, 28 pole positions, and back-to-back world championships.
- Larson: a versatile force, winning in stock cars, open-wheel cars, dirt cars, and endurance sports cars.
While Verstappen has proven his mettle on road and street circuits, Larson has demonstrated his adaptability on ovals, dirt tracks, and road courses.
Room for Debate
Larson may have thrown down the gauntlet, but the debate is sure to rage on. Ultimately, it's up to each individual to decide who they believe is the better all-around driver.
There's no question that both Larson and Verstappen are two of the most talented drivers in the world.
